Scholarships: Developing the future of the drinking water profession!

The American Water Works Association New Jersey Section (AWWA NJ) awards Scholarships for graduate and undergraduate students -- and has launched the One AWWA Operator Scholarship for treatment plant operators.

Operator Scholarship

The American Water Works Association New Jersey Section (AWWA NJ) will be awarding scholarships of $5,000 to three deserving students, based on their interest in the field of drinking water and pursuit of a career in the drinking water industry. The winning candidates will also receive free one-year student membership to AWWA and an automatic placement into the AWWA New Jersey Section Student/Professional mentorship program.

Scholarship Details & Requirements

The American Water Works Association New Jersey Section (AWWA NJ) and the Licensed Operator Committee (LOC) of AWWA NJ is offering a $5,000 scholarship for an individual that is interested in pursuing a career in the water industry as a New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Licensed Operator.

 

Applicant must be a current water operator or seeking to enter the water operator profession.

Applicant must be pursuing an Operator’s License or Certification, two or four-year degree related to the water operator profession, or professional development.

Scholarship award can be used for certification/licensure, 2- or 4-year water related associate degree, technical school program, professional training program, books and manuals and/or operator related conferences


Student Scholarship Details
 
For students entering the first year of college/vocational/trade school, sophomore, or junior year, the scholarship will be distributed in two (2) $2,500 amounts over the course of two (2) years for a total of $5,000.

For students entering the final year of college (senior year)/vocational/trade school, the scholarship will be distributed in two (2) $2,500 amounts over the course of two (2) semesters for a total of $5,000.

Important Note: AWWA NJ reserves the right to cancel the second $2,500 stipend if recipient fails to provide an updated transcript (unofficial is acceptable) and proof that he/she is still enrolled in a program related to the field of water supply and treatment.
