Scholarship Winner Announced

On May 30, Student Affairs Committee announced the winner of the annual Drinking Water Careers Scholarship. Candidates from several highly regarded NJ schools submitted applications, including students from NJIT, Stevens Institute of Technology, and Rowan University.

This year's winner was Keicha Muriel, a senior at Rowan, majoring in civil and environmental engineering (pictured here with Student Affairs Committee Chair Patrick Cole, of American Water).

Ms. Muriel, raised in Puerto Rico, and now residing in Camden, stood out for her strong academic background, service to the world community through involvement with Engineers Without Borders, and a sincere interest in the field of safe water. In addition to the scholarship—an award in the amount of $1,500—Ms. Muriel was given a tour of NJ American Water's Delaware River Regional Water Treatment Plant.

The NJ Section of AWWA takes pride in supporting talented students who express interest in the water supply profession, of which Keicha Muriel is an outstanding example.

Congratulations Keicha!
