Under the direction of the Water Treatment Plant
Superintendent, assists in the operation of the
Water Treatment Plant. Makes a variety of standardized
and specialized tests on water samples
from various locations within and outside plant.
Performs general maintenance duties.
Must be able to lift 50-65 lb bags for insertion into
bulk feeder hoppers. Class I operators supervise other
operators and train new employees. High School diploma
or GED and 1 to 4 years of experience in all facets of
water plant operation required.
Must possess a valid driver's license with a good
driving record and a current valid Virginia Class I,
II or III Water Operator's License. Will consider
underfill of Water Plant Operator Trainee.
Non-competitive promotion potential to
positions requiring higher level licenses upon
completion of requirements under skill-based pay
system. Rotating shift work/12 hours shifts. Plant
open 24 hours. Excellent fringe benefits.
