Volunteer/Member Zone
AWWA NJ invites members to make the most of their membership by getting involved in Section activities at the committee level. To reach any Section Committee Chair, use the contacts listed on the website at www.njawwa.org. The following committees, however, are actively looking for new members! Please contact the Committee Chairs below directly if you are interested in getting more involved:
The MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE is an active committee looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help plan and conduct membership events throughout the year, take care of routine activities such as mail new member packets, staff the membership booth and bookstore at the Annual Conference, and help set goals for membership growth in the Section. Contact Hetal Mistry (hetal.mistry@unitedwater.com) or Dalia Ghobrial (dghobrial@pvwc.com) to join this committee. Meetings are generally held quarterly.
The REGISTRATION COMMITTEE is looking for people who would like to make greater face-to-face contact with Section members during the Annual Conference. Registration Committee volunteers take 2-4 hr shifts working at the Registration Desk during the Conference in Atlantic City, help enter pre-registrations and stuff badges prior to the Conference, and also may help with the Fall Meeting and Golf Outing. The Committee is particularly looking for people with good computer skills who would be willing to work behind the scenes during the Conference(s). Contact Mike Piemontesi (mjp@bsjinc.com) or David Scheibner (dscheibner@ridgewoodnj.net). Committee involvement is primarily only in conjunction with the Fall Meeting and Annual Conference. The two (2) Saturdays before the Annual Conference, Registration Committee members get together in Ridgewood to stuff badges and prepare for the Annual Conference. Committee members may also come to the Conference a day early to help set up and prepare for the Conference.
The INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) COMMITTEE needs new members to help review, evaluate, and suggest new content for the AWWA NJ website; to help review modules of the Section's Association Management Software program and learn how to use it (and help teach others), and in general to help evaluate the Section's use of technology to ensure the most effective operations. Committee members don't need to be computer experts to be part of this committee! Meetings are generally held quarterly; additional review/work will most likely be done remotely. Please contact Paul Pandurangan (praghu@htmua.com) or Juan Donoso (jdonoso@mtmua.com) to learn more and/or join the committee.
The PUBLICATIONS COMMITTEE is looking for volunteers to help research and write articles for "Pipeline," the Section's newsletter, which comes out three (3) times per year. The Publications Committee also works with the Section Manager to update content on the Section's Website. Most work is done independently, so if you are looking for a way to get involved that doesn't involve attending lots of meetings, this could be the route for you! Contact Chris Olson (christopher.olson@amwater.com) for more information.
